Privacy Policy
The short version: MIDIBrain collects nothing, sends nothing, and phones no one. Everything happens on your Mac, and stays there.
What MIDIBrain does with data
MIDIBrain processes MIDI events — the notes and controls you play — entirely in
memory, in real time, on your computer. These events are converted and forwarded to
the virtual MIDI output MIDIBrain Out for your own software to use.
They are never recorded, stored, or transmitted by MIDIBrain.
What is stored locally
Two things, both on your Mac only, using Apple's standard preferences system
(UserDefaults):
- Your settings — scale, chord set, arp parameters, window size and the like — so the app opens the way you left it.
- A MIDI port identifier — a number that keeps the
MIDIBrain Outport stable between sessions, so your DAW reconnects to it automatically.
Deleting the app (or resetting its preferences) removes this data entirely.
What is not collected — ever
- No analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics.
- No accounts, sign-ins, or identifiers.
- No network access of any kind — the app makes no connections.
- No access to your files, microphone, camera, or location.
- No third-party SDKs, trackers, or advertising frameworks.
App Store & system privacy
MIDIBrain runs inside the macOS App Sandbox and ships with an Apple Privacy
Manifest declaring exactly two system APIs, both for the local purposes described
above: preference storage (UserDefaults) and the system clock used to
measure incoming MIDI-clock intervals for tempo sync. Neither involves data leaving
your machine.
Children
MIDIBrain is suitable for all ages and, collecting no data whatsoever, is inherently compliant with children's privacy regulations.
Changes to this policy
If MIDIBrain ever gains a feature that touches data differently, this policy will be updated before that version ships, with the change noted here.
